It connects the Mediterranean Sea and the Gulf of Suez, which is a branch of the Red Sea. The construction of Suez canal began in 1859, the initial construction took place by hand with picks and shovels and after a while the process and the technology was upgraded. The Suez canal was supposed to get completed in 1865 but it was delayed for 4 years because of the labour was short and some political issues, and it finally got completed in 1869. On 17th November it was opened for navigation, it is a one way water lane. The productivity was slow and the products were limited. As all the work was being done by hand, large work stations weren't needed. The products that were produced in the cottage industry were expensive as a lot of time went into it and there were limited pieces of one kind. When the cottage industries were replaced by the Factory system, the speed of the work increased as the work was not done by hand anymore. The machines replaced the work done by hand and the man starting operating the machine. As the work was now being done by the machines, the production was high and things were being mass produced, but the value of the product came down as they weren't limited
