When one thinks of Costco they think of the name Jim Sinegal, not for the reason that he was one of the company’s cofounder, but for his ways of leading and treating his employees. He is caring and charismatic when it comes to them. He believes that one should love what they are doing over and above (Draft, 2014, p.263). Costco is known for their quality of their products that are sold in their warehouses. Jim Sinegal believes that there should be quality people handling the customers in addition to the products (Draft, 2014, p.263). For this employees are treated with respect, paid well and in some circumstances there are clear transparency in communications. These are the reasons why Sinegal believes that his employees are loyal and has stayed with the company over the years (Draft, 2014, p.263). The leadership style of delegation is seen from higher level leaders to warehouse managers and from there on to the subordinates. The leadership style delegation is not hard to carry out in Costco, seeing as how Sinegal believes in quality employees he has complete confidence in his staff. As a result of doing this, he has given them full authority to do what they think may be best for everyone, the employees and customers. By allowing each warehouse manager to take the reins and take control of their warehouse, he has empowered them to do what is necessary. And what may be necessary for a warehouse in Michigan for their employees and customers, may not be the same for a warehouse in Idaho or even Texas. The power that Jim Sinegal entrusted in his leadership staff is what we learnt through our textbook; where it explains that once there is a task at hand and authority has been given to handle as it seems fit, is in fact delegation (Draft & Lane, 2015, p.
