The atmosphere of a store creates a positive or negative behavior in the consumers’ mind.
The increase in competition has forced retailers to be creative on how they display and arrange their products to attract consumers.
Bath and Body Work attraction starts right at the entrance door with an advertisement board; which attracts prospective customers to walk in the store. Once, you get in the store, you are welcomed with a pleasant fragrance and sales representatives. The store has good lighting sources. New items are displayed in the center to grab customers’ attention and the other product according to their categories. Each category of scents has a tester sample in front of it. After, trying out some new scents, I usually get inclined to buying it. Costco is a wholesale retailer and it carries a variety of items. The store is clean with large aisles and there are different categories of products like electronics, furniture, clothing, foods etc. Promotional and new products are displayed at the end of the aisles. It seems like, each time we go on a Saturday, there were sales representatives promoting their product with a free sampler and a promotion coupon. The atmosphere is appealing and we do go a little over the budget we originally planned.

Right when you enter the store, there are displays of inspirational wall decors, shelves with mugs, calendars, picture frames etc. The light is bright and targets each display to pull customers’ attention to the items. The nice instrumental musical background promotes a relaxing atmosphere for customers to shop and browse. It has been a while, therefore, I stopped there this afternoon to assess the atmosphere.
