An effective technology strategic plan should first start with a review of the organization’s strategic plan, often after listing out the strategic plans and tactical plans of the organization, the areas where technology could enhance or enable such plans becomes apparent. The transition from fee for service reimbursement to bundled payment and value based purchasing will require the use of electronic health records to develop integrated systems between health care organizations that foster provider collaboration across the continuum of care (Harris, p.129).
