Corporations are a vital need in today’s global society. People need corporations due to the global scale of trade and supply and demand of all products. Yes we need corporations, but laws should be implemented to limit their control of power. Corporations make a lot of money and in doing so they look at the bigger picture. In other words: corporations break laws to gain a much larger profit and if they get caught they just pay a fine with their much large profits, and this means nothing to them because they can more than afford small fines.
Wal-Mart is a major corporation and with being a corporation it has high effects on society with not only their wallets but also their employees. As implied in the film Wal-Mart: The High Cost of Low Price, Wal-Mart uses bad practices to make a larger profit and later just pay the fine. Wal-Mart has a lot of misdoings in the film such as mistreating their employees. Wal-Mart does not pay their employees enough for them to afford the work based medical plan. I am now going to go through all the facts of this case and my come to my own conclusion. The plaintiff, Big M Drug Mart violated the Lord’s Day Act and challenged the law. The plaintiff claim that the act violated section 2a because the act forced all peoples of Canada to participate in a Christian tradition when the charter states that all Canadians have the freedom of religion. Not only that the Lord’s Day Act was stated to have no valid purpose other than to protect the sanctity of the Christian Sunday sabbath. Also section 27 enforces multiculturalism and thus only celebrating a Christian tradition violates this as well.…

“Don’t you want to go where everybody knows your name” (cheers) Is the jingle that was the theme song for an old tv series called Cheers. Cheers were the name of the bar that was a small family and everyone knew each other that came in. The people were so comfortable that they continued to come back because they felt like the people and the owner of this bar valued them not for the income that they help generate or just another customer. This is how my small company will survive and beat Wal-Mart because they do value their customers. I would like to have a customer’s appreciation day and possible award cards similar to Kroger’s where you’re able to receive discounts if you are a registered shopper.…

It’s not out of the norm in business companies to deceive and lie to their consumers to earn both their loyalty and trust. For these companies, keeping their stock prices up, or having money consistently flow is their main goal. To do this, they save money by using cheap labour and making low quality goods. Even in a fully developed nation, Wal-Mart still makes a statement. This company has no workers union, thus leading to their workers being paid minimum wage and having absolutely no health care benefits.…

One, Wal-Mart typically uses overseas outlets to produce their products, which takes away manufacturing and production jobs here in America. They also ignore issues that happen in their own factories and stores. Two, Wal-Mart has driven many small businesses out of towns across the country, destroying the neighborly customer service we have seen in many other stores other than Wal-mart. They have trained people who work at minimum…

If corporations had our rights, the world wouldn’t be as safe, and people would get away with crimes more often. Corporations shouldn’t have our rights if it means causing the world more problems. Corporations would be able to contribute infinite amounts of money to political campaigns and candidates. Corporations can’t give money directly to campaigns and candidates, but they can do things such as advertising for them that costs money. If a candidate has their own corporation, they could use money in the corporation to help themselves get advertised, and become well known.…

    1) The best metaphor for a corporation is an “apple within a barrel where most apples are good and just a few bad”. It takes one apple to ruin it for the rest or spoil its companion. Corporations can often be seen as “bad apple's” bent on taking control of public power and only focused on making money, regardless of the consequences. Corporations are trying to engage themselves in as much profit as possible at anyone’s expense without realizing how unsustainable they are being towards the environment.…

The historical accounts written in the book, To Serve God and Walmart by Bethany Moreton addresses how in an attempt to appeal to the rural, Christian, family-oriented Ozark-region where it began, Wal-Mart had do found itself based on the fundamental values of its people. Without its ability to correspond to the Ozark values of avoidance of selfishness, making communal contributions, and providing support for one’s immediate family, Wal-Mart would not have been able to succeed in the big-business-opposing community nor would it have been able to expand…

But for this corporation to be a multi-billion dollar company, why are the workers getting paid below the wages of other employees who are competitors, which are less successful, to Wal-Mart? Sam Walton provided a statement that proves Wal-Mart is spending low-slung employee wages just so they can be “one uppers” to its competitors. With this kind of approach to a business is profitable, which leads to a strategy of failure to many of its employees that work hard to provide their kids leading themselves into poverty. An average employee receives a wage of $7 dollars an hour while working 30-40 hours week. Doing the Math, that amounts up to $13,000 a year which is very impossible to survive.…

As mentioned by Fowler in Business News Daily, “‘We know now the true economic impact a Walmart store has on a neighborhood when it moves in. " Fowler, who conducted the research for Puget Sound Sage, said, " ‘The research shows that the negative impact is due to the use of the Walmart business model. Wal-Mart You Have Choice Sam Walton said:"…we 'll lower the cost of living for everyone, not just in America, but we 'll give the world an opportunity to see what it 's like to save and have a better lifestyle, a better life for all. We 're proud of what we 've accomplished; we 've just begun. To answer the question if Wal-Mart is good or bad, I have decided to use a strictly business/economic standpoint which in my opinion, they are doing things correctly. It shows me that if you have a vision and a solid business plan and learn through trial and error you can achieve anything. I will show the critics of Wal-Mart that it is a choice and not “Big Bad Wal-Mart”…
