Do you believe freedom should be given or must freedom be demanded? Well, I believe freedom should be given and not demanded. Freedom is the power or right to act, speak, or think as one wants without hindrance or restraint. All people no matter the age, race, or religion so be given that right. Freedom should be given for many reasons.
First, freedom should be given because we should all be equal. In Charles Euchner Nobody Turns Me Around states “This note was a promise that all men-yes , black men as well as white men would be guaranteed the unalienable rights, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness.” Therefore, this shows the promises for freedom the were made in the Declaration of Independence. In Martin Luther King Jr.;I Have A Dream speech says “I still have a dream.It is a dream deeply rooted in the American dream. I have a dream that one day this nation will rise up and live out the true meaning of its creed, ‘We hold these truths to be self-evident; that all men are created equal.’” When it stated that it was a dream deeply rooted in the American dream , this shows that America was established off of the principals of freedom. The Declaration of Independence was to depart from under the British control and TO BE FREE! Freedom should be given because America was established off of the principals of freedom but also because it’s our constitutional right.
Finally, freedom should be given for the reason that it’s our constitutional right. Amendment 1 stated,“Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press; or the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the government for a redress of grievances.” This shows that legally we have rights and freedom.
