The average cost for adopting a child in the United States of America is $30,000, but the cost depends on many factors. There are different types of adoption, and they cost different amounts. One type of adoption is private domestic infant adoption, which costs anywhere from $5,000 to more than $40,000. This cost can be based on the income of the person adopting, and it costs a lower average if you adopt with an adoption lawyer rather than with an agency. Post placement visits must be done to see if the child is comfortable with living in the new family’s home. These visits also show adoption professionals and the court that the family and the child are adjusting positively to each other. The family must also attend the finalization hearing, which is the judge’s final review that ensures that everything else was complete and that both parents’ parental rights were legally terminated (How to Adopt-The Domestic Adoption Process, 2017). If finalizing an adoption from foster care a family must receive their placement date, which is when the child comes to live in their home. They will also need to attend a court session where the judge will finalize the adoption. After the session,the family will receive the birth certificate of adoption (Ten Step Overview, N.D.).
These children in waiting are innocent and deserve to have a forever family like most children. Children didn’t have a choice, but they were placed in orphanages and foster care. Adopting can create these forever families for all of these
