The average total cost of a 4-year state university for 2013-2014 is over $18,000 a semester, according to College Board.
B. The price is continually going up, too.
1. According to College Board, there was an almost 3% growth in the costs for in-state students at public, 4 year colleges in 2013-2014.
2. Recent trends reveal that as college costs are increasing, students are borrowing more than ever before to finance their education.
C. Debt from financing college is also another concern that has been made to look scarier than it actually is.
1. It will not be a burden to you all of your life. It can be paid off quicker than most realize. According to a study by College Board, the college graduate who enrolls at age 18 and graduates in 4 years can expect to earn enough by age 36 to compensate for being out of the labor force for 4 years..
2. The increasing willingness to borrow money in order to go to college is justified because it is used to reap higher returns.
D. Scholarships also cut down the price tremendously.
