The idea of a Cosmopolitan Canopy, a term defined by sociologist Elijah Anderson, has been used to describe various locations throughout the greater New York City area. In this setting, people of color have a tendency to be to some degree calm and now and again even vivified in their presentation of self. Many of them are part of the working class, but there is a larger amount of them than white people. Ultimately, individuals of both gatherings are curious and accept this open door to watch each other nearly. Placing myself into the shoes of Raphael Ezekiel or Bruce A. Jacobs, I did want to place myself in any immediate danger. However, a non-Cosmopolitan Canopy that still exists today is the Irish Pub. Predominantly harboring Caucasian men and women, Irish pubs are often run by people of Irish descent. The pub I visited allowed customers under 21 as long as they did not sit by the bar area. I decided to conduct my observations on a bench inside near the bathroom. During my time inside the pub, I did not see or encounter a single person of color. The bar had different types of alcoholic drinks that I never heard of before and plenty of novelties such, four leaf clovers and Guinness glasses. Covering the walls were numerous pictures of customers, relatives related to the employees, family portraits, and other familial pictures. While I was never in fear for my safety in this establishment, I certainly felt as if I did not belong there. Most of the men there were wearing light or dark boot cut jeans with Timberland boots or another kind of working boot. The men sitting by the bar had either short hair, or were wearing a baseball cap covering their heads. They had on collard shirts, jackets or t-shirts describing their political views. I was wearing a flannel shirt with slim pants and Nike sneakers. The music being played had sounds coming from flutes, bagpipes and accordions – all sounds that I
