If someone has gotten injured in some way and would like to fix that injury with cosmetic surgery, then it would be helpful. For instance, if someone had got caught in a fire and they had serve burns, they could get it fixed to boost their self-esteem. However, surgeries are always unpredictable and someone may never know what they would look like with the surgery unit it’s too late, “’I don 't think I am more beautiful than I was [before]. I just see the same old goofy girl I see every day.’--Ashlee Simpson, on her nose job.” (Abbondanza) Undergoing these surgeries may not make someone feel different or it could even make them feel worse about themselves. Teenagers should think about the surgeries before they get it to make sure they want to make this lifetime commitment.
Boosting someone’s self-esteem is important, but it may not end in the result someone pictured. Cosmetic surgeries do not always have the perfect outcome, which could make someone’s self-esteem go down instead of get better. It is a decision that should not be made in one night. If someone truly wants this kind of surgery, they should do research and talk to friends and family to ask for their opinion on it. Cosmetic surgery can have very serious results, so teens should be banned from getting these surgeries until they are 18 to make sure this is what they truly
