Write an argumentative essay in which you convince an audience to support your claim about a debatable idea. Use your research and experience to support your argument.…
For instance, you want to state your claim in your introduction and explain why your argument is valid. In the conclusion, you will want to reinforce your claim and end the speech in a convincing manner to get your audience to change their beliefs. In the organization process, you will determine whether a problem and solution, cause and effect, refutation, or a motivated sequence is the best method for presenting your argument. You will also want to determine whether you want to use credibility, logic, or emotions to appeal to your audience. You may find that a combination of them works best or only one works best. The delivery process will be the most difficult because you must convince your audience that your argument is valid so they will change their beliefs on the topic. You must deliver with utter certainty and confidence in order to convince the audience of your argument. In order to effectively persuade an audience, you must have a solid central idea, proper organization of the message, and excellent…
You have a proposition, reasons, and evidence in the piece. All of the elements of an argument are in place, and you are reaching your target audience. You provide background information when necessary, making the information more accessible to your audience. Score: 4…
Explain the pro’s and cons of the argument, or give some types of details as to why the topic is an argumentative one. Provide information that would capture the reader’s attention from the beginning. Just like a journalist would do from the summary of an article or book. A writer’s job is to make the readers want more than just an interesting topic, and to also provide information of their research to make it…
The medium that I choose to convey my visual argument was a website. My argument was that police officers should be required to wear body cameras because they have helped in citizens get off, they are more beneficial then harmful, and the body cameras could prevent future instances of police brutality. My audiences for this visual argument is the general public so that they can be made aware of what is going on and develop their own opinions on the topic. The purpose is to raise awareness and have the citizens thinking about what can be done to combat issues such as police brutality. I would like them to know that body cameras are one of the solutions to police brutality.…
I open my video with statistics about cancer, which provides the audience with specific information—proving that I have completed my homework and looked up logical facts. Not only do I provide statistics from well-known resources, ex: The American Cancer Society, but I also implement doctor’s expertise and case studies. I convince my audience with use of reason after describing the case study conducted by two oncologists—Leonard Saltz and Peter Bach—because the study shows us why the prices are in fact unnecessary, AND both experienced doctors vilify the high prices. Another tactic I use to convince my audience that my claim is logical is by incorporating surveys into my presentation. Towards the end of my speech I warn against the detrimental effects raising prices would have on the patients; however, I also use a survey to show that patients are already being effected by the high prices. The survey demonizes hefty cancer costs, stating that patients are skimping on medication; however, the survey was conducted four years ago—therefore, the audience is prompted to imagine how many patients delay their medications today. I reference several sources in this presentation. I used six sources to gain valuable knowledge about my topic—one source from my POV Essay 2 and five additional sources. The new sources I used made it very easy to incorporate reliable information into my iMovie because the sites were trustworthy and listed several statistics. The two interviews allowed me to add clips of the doctor’s discoveries. The use of logos helped me construct a logical argument and back up the overall claim of my final rhetoric…
I created three posters each one appealing to ethos, pathos, or logos specifically using visual rhetoric. For my first poster I used a comparison of the symptoms of opioids off the street and prescribed to show that there are large similarities between the effects. I used a blue color for the brain to show that there is a change from the normal chemistry of the brain when the effect of the drugs are used. The words “Could you draw the lines?” is in reference to the effects of the drugs. It uses logos to persuade the audience that the use of prescribed opioids are dangerous. The second poster shows a man wrapped in Christmas lights on the street. I used Christmas lights because of their relation to this time of year. The words read “He won’t…
In The pitfalls of plastic surgery by Camille Pagila, Camille discusses her views/ believes regarding plastic surgery. Plastic Surgery is altering your body into your ideal shape. Camille Paglia view on plastic surgery are she does not favor plastic surgery. She believes your body should stay how it was made. Paglia says as individuals we see “woman as ingénue”, meaning innocent or unsophisticated. She used examples as Lana Turner, Barbie, Lara Croft to support the idea behind plastic surgery. These examples have the ideal body type a woman would like to have. Camille compare and contrast people from earlier time to current people. How back then people would stretch their bodies to get a longer nose or anything they wanted to appear longer.…
My project was to create a poster, advertising the school play “The Laramie Project”. This poster was supposed to represent the different aspects of the play. Upon speaking with the play director, Ms. Kleinberg, I decided to take a key place from the play and present it on paper in different mediums. This would intrigue people to come see the play, to learn of its significance. The poster was created on separate pieces of paper and would be scanned and put into a computer system to be layered in a photo editing app and sent to be printed. I chose this project because I am good with making art and I felt it would be an interesting experience.…
A brochure is is a small single-page, two-sided, folded document designed to present an argument to readers and persuade them to one point of view ("Constructing a Brochure or Pamphlet."). It should contain the most important information about the argument, and be attractive and eye-catching so the reader is motivated to find out more. Also, the information should be written in bullet points instead of long paragraphs. To meet the conventions, I chose to use Pixlr Editor to design the layout of the brochure. Also, I used Microsoft Word to add and modify all the text and image contents, and place them in proper position. In order to emphasize the key points and grab the attention of readers, I used different fonts and colors. I also added images to emphasize my topic to meet the visual rhetoric. The limitations of my argument are a lack of detailed information about how racism can affect students, statistics about racism on college campuses, and why they have to take action against any kind of racial discrimination. I should have provided more information, but the convention of brochure limits what I could include. But since I included the main key points in my arguments in very simple and organize way, I believe that my audience would be convinced by my…
Man’s greatest fear is death. For centuries, it has been the most dominant terror sitting at the forefront of every decision. Any form of death is dreaded, regardless of whether it be your death or the death of a companion. For me, the jobs that help individuals recover from encounters that brought them so close to death are the most rewarding. The desire to help people and their families inspires me to become a surgeon; it is not only a job, but a way to become a lifesaver and a hero.…

There are more than seven billion people in this world and according to recent studies almost forty percent of teenagers have thought about participating in some sort of plastic surgery. In addition to that study, over 200,000 teenagers have actually received work. According to Zuckerman, more than 236,000 of those procedures were to people between the ages of 13 and 19. So the question is why do teens suddenly have the desire to have a procedure done? Plastic surgery has created an unreasonable standard for females which has caused self esteem to plummet in teenagers throughout America. Cosmetic surgery has become more popular than ever before. Surgery has forced females into thinking that perfect is normal, it has given teens false hope about…
