On my third deployment on COB Speicher, Iraq in 2012 my right ankle injury occurred on an incline while ruck marching. The following week I took a record APFT, on the final even I felt a pop and sharp pain in my right leg. After finishing the 2 mile run I was driven to the local medical center to be looked at. The medical examiner told me that it was just a high sprain and proscribed Motrin and crutches. Upon redeployment at the SRP center I was reexamined by the provider.…

Selecting the information used for the presentation I did in front of the PET 388 class was given to us. I was given the topic and had to come up with a PowerPoint to explain tobacco. I used the book because it outlined many important concepts when talking about smoking and smokeless tobacco. I also chose to go by the book because it shared very important information that should be learned as future educators. I also incorporated this into my presentation to the class because since we are all future educators, I though some of the concepts were interesting to know.…

During the first class of EDAD 524 in this summer, professor Fujimoto held an activities that every students marked their true opinions about their identities by different colors. From the class discussion, I realized that if we were diverse in this cohort, how it could be more diverse in American society. Everyone had their own minds about their identities, such as race, gender, sexuality, class, and religion so that it is critical for both current and future student affair to be aware the knowledge of social justice, and understand how specific historical and cultural conditions have impacts on domination and subordination(Adams, et. al., 2013).…

I just finished meeting with Robert & Sandra. After consulting with the Senate and UPC chair we have begrudgingly concluded that it would in the best interest of CAECO students to support the following senate motion. The retraction of the motion could result in the likelihood that CAECO majors would have only an approximately 25% chance of being able to register for their desired elective courses. It is important to note that recent history has shown that over 75% of the students enrolled in CAECO electives are non-CAECO majors. After thoughtful deliberation we felt that this would not be an appropriate risk.…

I have taken two AOK1 courses: CIS 102T (Intergenerational Computing) and POL 110 (Leadership and Advocacy). For CIS 102T the professor matched me with two elderly people at a nursing home. I visited the nursing home twice a week and taught two senior citizens how to use technology while checking their blood pressure and weight to ensure that they were healthy. My goal was to help senior citizens learn to use technology in order to improve their lives. I taught the seniors I was assigned to how to uses: social media, email, Microsoft office, YouTube, Skype, online banking etc.…

Curanderismo has been a presence in my life since I was very young. Growing up in a small community in Northern New Mexico ensured that I was exposed to traditional medicine and alternative forms of spirituality. This class was not my first exposure to curanderismo, though many of the readings and videos helped clarify and explain many of the elements of curanderismo that had been present in my life, but had not been explained. Curanderismo is just as much of a form of cultural expression as it is a form of traditional healing. Personally, curanderismo is a link to my cultural and family history, helping to continue traditions that my family has had for generations.…

I have contributed greatly in the Quality department with my specialty in training. One of my biggest achievements was facilitating in transition training. It was accomplished by working closely with the Center Super Trainers (CST) to ensure all employees training were done prior to going live in NextGen. 1. After rolling into NextGen, also as a super trainer for the donor floor area, to increase efficiency and maintain compliance requirements I ensured that all donor floor staff understood the NextGen process and also help them to troubleshoot any error or assist them if required.…

As a first year I found myself being one of the youngest if not the youngest one in ASAM 230. Although most of the students in ASAM 230 were seniors, this course would be most helpful to students in their second or third year of college. The assignments we are asked to read, write and discuss in class are directed to help students recognize their interests. For example, reading about Community-Based organizations and becoming more knowledgeable on how they are coordinated can be essential to a student who is still trying to decipher what they want to do with their college career. Most importantly the paper, What Matters to Me and Why?, is the epitome of ASAM 230 as we are able to connect our experiences in service learning and are able to apply…

Sandra, I could think of one area in which to me the 5Cs did not do a good enough job for improved patient outcomes and that would be in the area of patient identification because it relies on verbal affirmation of name (Institute for Safe Medical Practices, 2011). I work at the VA and for whatever reason I have and can have three John Richardsons in one night to care for of my six patients all clustered in the same area (some may be spelled slightly different)! Or all my patients or in for the same condition. I have had to stop many doctors from going into the wrong room to consult on a patient when they have just scribbled the name of the patient on a piece of paper. Sometimes I do not catch them in time and they walk out asking why certain…

During the course of my EN 111 class there have been many things that I enjoyed and a couple of things that I did not. First of all I particularly enjoyed the discussions that the class would have about the stories that we had to read. I liked this because when reading the story on my own sometimes it was hard to understand what was happening. When the class would discuss the stories aloud I was able to get more of an understanding out of it. Finding the deeper meaning was easier when we would discuss it together.…

I am currently in the Microbiology and Immunology major, so most of my work is focused on bacteria and viruses. As part of my degree, I am taking MICB 421, which is a guided, but independent laboratory research study. In a group, we are required to come up with our own research question, formulate our own approach to test our hypothesis, and in the end, write a paper that will be published in JEMI based on our experiments. This lab course is very different because in all of my previous lab courses, the goals and procedures of all the experiment we perform are given. So all that is required for students to do is to read the lab manual and follow the instructions as stated.…

After finishing reading the syllabus, I have a better understanding of EN101. I now know what is expected of us as students, and what we expect from you the teacher. It is a very good idea to not let our parents have any effect on a grade, paper, or assignment, because it makes us as students responsible for our own grades. Having strict deadlines also help all of us be more responsible. With this class, I cannot wait to become a more fluent writer and improve my grammatical skills to help in college.…

CISC 302 offered a great opportunity to learn more about computers. I extended my knowledge about Microsoft Office and got more experience on using its applications. Also, I would like to thank everyone who responded to my questions.…

Vision is my inspiration. I wanted to understand how vision affects perspective and allows for every person to be unique, to mold their own personality, and to have an individual outlook on life. It is what led me to pursue optometry. The more I learned about optometry the more I came to appreciate the profession and its goal in improving patients’ vision. Now, most people take this to mean that an optometrists sole job is prescribing eyeglasses and contact lenses.…
