Corruption is defined as dishonest or fraudulent conduct by those in power. With great amounts of power corruption is something that commonly arises and it is hard to find a society that is completely free of it. When it gets to a point where the people can no longer sit idly by, a revolution occurs. This is relevant to the Reformation. The catholic church was riddled with corruption and used their authority and power to exploit common people for their own gain. Those who knew that it was wrong spoke up against the church and started a revolution for change. But in some cases, corruption can be a product of the revolution and the new government. During the Renaissance people started thinking a different way when it came to art, literature and science. Artist started to drift away from religion to focus on the beauty with the human form and question more things about the universe. The industrial revolution changed many things within society. The way goods were made, people lived and the way cities functioned. The two revolutions had similar changes like the increase in information and its availability. Literature during the Renaissance was less religious than the time period before and authors were less restricted. People were able to write about their experiences as humans and their ideas. The printing press was an invention that made it easier for books to be mass produced. The industrial revolution raised the literacy rate, making it easier for information and ideas to be shared and this increased people's quality of life. Although they had these similarities they also had differences that defined the time period. During the industrial revolution there was a loss of focus when it came to humans as individuals. They were no longer seen as people, they were only seen as profit and big businesses did anything necessary in order to maximize earnings. The opposite thing occurred in the Renaissance as humanism, a style of art that focused on the beauty and importance of human beings, became more popular.
