What is Corruption?
Transparency International defines corruption as the abuse of entrusted power for private gain . This means that people with entrusted power in a country (government officers, finance ministers, senior officials) abuse their power and make private deals for money to use for themselves rather than for the betterment of society. Corruption usually occurs because some people are willing to use illicit means and ways to maximise their personal profit . Generally, corruption affects the political, economic, social and environmental areas of a certain country. In a political perspective, corruption violates democracy and the rule of law . Corruption can be classified as grand, petty or political depending on the amount of money lost and the area where it occurs . Acts that are committed at a high level of government that jeopardize policies or the general functioning of the state are known as grand corruption. Everyday abuse by low, mid- level public officials in their normal interactions with citizens, who are trying to access basic needs like healthcare and education is known as petty corruption. …show more content…
Merriam Webster dictionary defines bribery as “money or favour given or promised in order to influence the judgment or conduct of a person of trust.” Bribery is a type of corruption.
I want to discuss the global, national and individual perspectives, the issues, effects, causes, scenarios and courses of action for bribery using these three cases from three different countries.

According to USLegal.com, Public safety is referred to the welfare and protection of the general public. This is usually defined as a government responsibility. The goal for public safety departments in countries over the world is to protect the public from disasters and crimes .
