Political corruption has been a topic evaded by political scientists for an unsettling amount of time. It is not because of mere incompetence or lackadaisical demeanor, but it is because corruption itself has not been truly acknowledged for its importance or simply for the fact that there are other problems of higher priority than that of corruption. Another issue regarding corruption is that it takes countless forms and has not yet been given a definite definition. (Types of Corruption) It has been referred to in a way that corruption can be stated as a personal opinion in terms of what it is and the individual’s current moral standards. It is currently a malleable subject with varying meanings which makes it difficult to solve. “By being able to define what something is then we can understand how to prevent it. That is not the same as suggesting that you ignore corruption [which is the problem with many political scientists]. It is the opposite. Blandly labelling something as corruption is meaningless.
