Corruption affects us all as a group of people. It threatens steady and sustainable economic development in a country, ethical values and the justice system. Corruption tends to destabilize the society and endangers the rule of law. For a democratic country, it undermines the institutions and values of the democracy the government and the people practice. With poor people benefiting more from public policies and public resources, they tend to suffer more from the harmful effects of a corrupt government. According to the 2014, corruption perception index which ranks countries by their perceived corruption level determined by expert assessments and opinions, South Korea was ranked 43rd most corrupt country in the world and the third most corrupt country in East Asia. South Korea has been plunged into a political scandal that threatens to engulf the presidency of Park Geun-Hye. South-Korea is currently in the news because of the scandal involving the President of the country. South Korean President Park Geun-Hye, has been accused of abuse of power and violating her office and sharing confidential documents and presidential speeches to her confidante Choi Soon-Sil, who does not hold any official government post. Among the speeches that have been retrieved is the speech President Park delivered in Dresden, Germany, in 2014.
