It is with great enthusiasm that I learn more about the person behind many of the fonts that I, as well as many others, use. Imagine, finding your path in life at an early age. His contribution to the industry? The Creative Characters article begins his interview calling Larabie "the prince of free fonts". According to the article, Typodermic Foundry is one of MyFonts most successful type libraries. The article notes he has created over 1000 fonts. The prices allow for users from all walks of life to utilize a neat display font without breaking the bank. In my opinion, offering fonts in a reasonable price range encourage use and purchase and return visits. Sure, free is awesome - and may of Larabie's works are free, but in thinking some fonts cost double digits - a simple project may not have that in the budget. Ray Larabie's works (past and present) allows those new to the world of fonts to really step up and explore more possibilities using text as a stronger visual element.
