In nursing research, ethics mean ‘what ought to and what not ought to be done in a research process’ and it ensures the quality of the research by protecting the human rights (Zenobia and Chan, 2010). It often applies to the day to day life to promote or criticise the moral concepts (Newall, 2005, cited in Zenobia and Chan, 2010). Moreover, Zenobia and Chan (2010) argued that, it is the responsibility of the researcher to maintain the autonomy and the dignity of the participants during the research process and in order to do that the informed consent and the full description of the research is essential. Although there is a statement about the informed consent, the author did not give more information about how they achieve that. Polit and Beck (2008) documented that the researcher needs to carry out several measures to ensure the confidentiality of the participants, which include getting and maintaining the confidential assurance among the research group members, securing identifying information with locking control and assigning a number of identification rather than the personal information. In the research the author mentioned that they take a good effort to maintain the confidentiality of the patient, however, as the interview were conducted in the home environment, it could not offer a 100 percentage in confidentiality. As a part of the ethics the researcher should receive an ethical approval from the committee (Zenobia and Chan, …show more content…
The data analysis makes the sense of the varied non numeric data that accrue during the data collection process (Chesney, 2014). Qualitative content analysis is used by the author in this article and it is one of the several methods available to analyse the data and interpret its meaning (Schreir, 2012). As a research method it uses a systemic and objective method to describe and qualify the data (Schreir, 2012). As a part of a successful content analysis, the data can be minimised to the concepts that represents the research question by creating the models, concepts or categories (Schreir, 2012, Elo kyangas, 2008). Even though, it looks the pattern of the data there are some arguments relate to the quality of this method, as it looks only the superficial data (Maltby, 2014). Many researchers use this method as it is a simple one, however, the results can be wrong because this method does not require special knowledge or skills (Elo and Kyngas, 2014). Moreover, it is essential that the researcher should select a suitable approach they are using in the analysis, as the literature suggest that, the use of a robust analytical method increases the trustworthiness of the research (Hsieh & Shannon, 2005). The three increasing levels of abstraction by the Kvale 1996,(cited in Holvind, Brendal and Dible, 2013) used by the author in this study, shows that they have chosen a good analytical framework for this
