One day, at the behavioral hospital where I work, I was asked to lead a group due to the regular instructor’s absence. This particular group consisted mainly of addicts and addicts with other psychopathologies. There was no particular topic that I had to choose so I selected Maslow’s Hierarchy of Needs. Due to the make-up of the group I did my best to correlate Maslow’s hierarchy with substance abuse. Not to pat myself on the back, but the class went beautifully with most clients paying attention as well as actively participating. It felt good to be able to reach out and touch somebody’s life, if only for a moment. After the class concluded
