The only reason we are rushing to college to get a degree is to get a good paying job in the future, but employers from large companies like google care less if not at all about college gpa or which college you went to as stated my Max Nisen in this article, in the article Max states that google’s senior vice president of people operations Laszlo Bock explaining why college GPA or test scores aren’t nearly as important as people think: “In an interview with The New York Times' Adam Bryant, Google's Senior Vice President of People Operations Laszlo Bock explains that some of the biggest stalwarts of the hiring and recruiting world, the interview, GPA, and test scores, aren't nearly as important as people think.” (Max Nisen). In the article Max also states that the company doesn’t for GPA unless the person applying for the job position is a year or two out of college as academic success don’t correlate to the success at the company: “Google doesn't even ask for GPA or test scores from candidates anymore, unless someone's a year or two out of school, because they don't correlate at all …show more content…
If academic success doesn’t correlate to success in the job market or success in large companies like google why then are we spending so much in college education when it doesn’t correlate to anything? Why are we still spending money on college education where the current student debt is over 1.1 trillion dollars? The reason why academic success does not correlate to success at google as stated by Bock is that academic environments are artificial environments people who succeed in that environment are only trained to succeed in that environment, not the environment at google where there is no specific answer to a problem: “Another reason is that I think academic environments are artificial environments.
