Acting Brooklyn District Attorney Eric Gonzalez made it known that a 35 year old man is being prosecuted for the murder of a New York Correction officer who was killed while in her car at Bergen Beach Brooklyn. The accused's girlfriend is being charged with obstructing the law.
Acting District Attorney Eric Gonzalez said "Officer Alastasia Bryan was unable to defend herself as she was ambushed in what can only be described as a determined, pre-planned, and sinister murder. The department now intends to hold him and his girlfriend answerable for the supposed roles they played in this case and look for justice of Officer Bryan bereaved family and friends."

Richmond is being prosecuted on one count of second-degree murder and two counts of second-degree criminal possession of a weapon. Mejia is being prosecuted for one count of first degree and one count of third degree of obstructing the law. Richmond has not been allowed bail and Mejia held on $50000,00 bail. The defendants have been asked to be back in court on the 15th of March 2017 and if Richmond is convicted then he could face up to 25 years behind bars. Mejia can face up to 7 years in jail.
The Acting Brooklyn District Attorney disclosed that according to the investigation that Keon Richmond 35 shot his ex-girlfriend, Alastasia Bryan, five times while she was sitting in her car at Avenue L and East 73rd Street in Bergen Beach. She was on her way to Rikers Island.
Acting Brooklyn Attorney Eric Gonzalez said. "The car that Richmond used to flee the scene of the crime was registered in Mejia's name who paid a mechanics shop to store the vehicle for her two days later and Richmond took off the number plates. Mobile phone records and other data retrieved from electronic devices placed Richmond at the scene of the murder and recorded him fleeing from the scene to new Jersey.
The case was investigated by the New York Police department of 63 precinct and assisted by Detective Patrick
