Correction: Advanced Practice With Children And Families Class

Decent Essays
Correct me if I am wrong, I have talked with another student not in your class but she is in another advanced practice with children and families class. She was allowed a week extension to turn in her missing assignments. I was thrown off guard when I received your email Thursday that the assignment was due that night of the week of my return. I did my best to get it completed on that day to meet your wishes. My other class allowed me to use the entire week to make-up my assignments which I was able to complete. I am not trying to compare both of your expectations, but I thought in my mind I would be allowed the entire week to work on missing assignments along with making the time frame for that’s weeks assignment. I work two jobs on top of

    1. The main means of communicating to my instructor is through ASU email, however, contact through personal email and Blackboard’s email system aren’t viable ways to communicate messages to my professor 2. Late work should never be turned on the same day that it’s due. If an assignment is turned in late, then it will not be excepted. However, there will be special cases where the professor allows for late work to be turned in, consequently, the grade will be reduced by ten percent for each day that it’s missing.…

Thank you for reviewing my petition and getting back to me. I just wanted to point out that I had already withdrew from that class on time. When I submitted the petition it was for late drop. The reason I applied for late drop after already withdrawing from the class was because I wanted to make sure I was withdrawn in case you didn’t accept my late drop petition. I was told that I could still apply for late drop after withdrawing to be safe.…

The day we expected to get our assignments back, I felt calm and confident. When I received my paper and saw what my grade was and the comments my teachers made, my whole mood changed. The grade and the remarks were nothing of what I expected, and the grade was well below what I normally score. After this assignment I started to give up because I did not think I would ever do as good and that my writing, in fact, did not improve at all, but Mrs. Moore told me not give up and to keep trying. The talk we had made me realize that I need to learn from this experience and continue to work hard and do my absolute best.…

In the essay “The Dog Ate My Disk, an Other Tales of Woe” Professor Carolyn Foster Segal explains that even after lengthy syllabus warnings and a humorous cartoon of a cat explaining to its teacher that a dog ate its homework, students still came up with multiple excuses for being tardy, absent or turning in assigned work late. She categorized the excuses into these five categories, the family, the best friend, the evils in dorm life, the evils in technology, and the totally bizarre. For family, Segal points out that “The death of the grandfather/grandmother is, of course, the grandmother of all excuses” (565). Students will use that excuse all the time because the teacher will probably show pity for them in their sorrow. Demonstrating…

I remember the first time I wrote an essay that was being graded at the college level. This was in my junior year when I took AP Language and Composition, our first essay was a rhetorical analysis essay from a very old excerpt that used old english and was very hard to read. When I first started reading the passage I started to get nervous because I didn't understand what the text was saying but then I started to annotate and the passage began to make sense. I found many rhetorical strategies that the author used and I then began to outline the essay in my head.…

In the beginning of high school, I couldn’t understand the importance of handling my responsibilities, especially when it came to my school work. I just couldn’t find the motivation to hand in stuff like homework on time. I actually started to do less and less each school year. I never try to fix my problem because there were never any consequences to it. I would pass all my classes with decent grades with no problems despite ignoring a lot of the work, but then I was called by my English teacher to stay after class.…

I am currently student teaching in a 4th grade classroom at Sunset Elementary under my master teach, Alissa Nakaji. Upon my first day, I instantly fell in love with the dynamics of the classroom. The classroom had colorful posters explaining rules, consequences, inspirational quotes, and a list of roles for each student (changed weekly). This classroom feels more like a community of students striving together to have an optimal learning experience instead of just one teacher demanding and controlling the students. It is very autonomous and the teacher is involved only when needed.…

In relation to my life, alienation from the product of my labor is most noticeable when it comes to writing and submitting papers. As a college student, I have no control over the product of my labor due to the fact that I write papers because I have to in order to receive a grade, not because I want to. Much like how a worker exchanges their labor and its products for wages, I exchange my papers for a grade. Furthermore, once I submit a paper, I lose ownership of it, especially since my professor, not me, solely determines my grade. Additionally, I lose even more control over the product of my labor since I cannot reuse any previously graded paper in another class without facing accusations of plagiarism.…

I took two classes for the summer of 2016, but the Interpersonal Communication class had me worried the most. I had a training with the army, and that required me to absence from school for two weeks. Unlike my other class, I didn’t have a chance to work ahead of the class with the instructor for the two weeks that I would be missing. Therefore, I was worried that I wouldn’t catch up with my classmates and end up failing the class. However, Ms. Anna was generous and extended the assignment due date for me; she even gave me an extra-credit assignment to replace the credits that I missed during my two weeks in training.…
