Corporate HR Global Operations For The Walt Disney Company

I currently work for the Walt Disney World, in Florida, as a Human Resources Associate in the Corporate HR Global Operations for the Parks and Resorts. Disney is a company that helps builds memories for families and other individuals around the world. Everyone knows what Disney is and for many children is a dream come true to experience such fun. To begin, the Walt Disney Company was established by Walt and Roy Disney in the 1920’s. Around then it was known as Disney Brothers Cartoon Studio, the organization was later reincorporated into Walt Disney Studio. And thereafter, split into five segments, (The Media Networks, Disney ABC Television Group and ESPN Inc., Parks and Resorts, Studio Entertainment, Disney Consumer, and Disney Interactive), …show more content…

However, Disney’s HR Global Operations is divided into different department’s structure which contains employee relations, compensation and benefits, recruiting, training and development, health and safety and Leave Administration. In addition, we will dig into the Leave Department, when cast members need to go on a leave of absence whether it is for medical reasons, and / or personal reasons. Leave of Absence consists of Personal, Maternity, Medical, Family Care, and Bereavement leave. We conduct many processes to insure that all cast member’s leave are completely in timely manner to prevent any delays or any reprimands. We conduct about 200 hundred leave of absences daily and sometimes more, from actually retrieving medical documentation from our notes systems; which employees can fax from their doctor’s office, or from their homes. In addition, if a cast member has not return from a leave absence, we sent out letter of communication advising to provide updated documentation to return or to …show more content…
However, currently the company has risen their ticket prices, which is a problem, due to it takes families months, if not years to save for a vacation with Disney. It seems the business may be more concern about the increase value of their profits, as appose to maintain a low number which can make it easier for a household to save. However, I do believe the company honor God; by provide a once a year celebration in September at Magic Kingdom, which calls “Night of Joy”. Night of Joy, consist of Christian artists, that provides entertainment in honoring God, such artists Disney have schedule to performed this year is Lacrea, Jeremy Camp to name a few. The celebration is for every age, and current activities at Magic Kingdom are closed specifically for that event. Nevertheless, the company does not discriminate against religion, and encourages their employees and consumers to express

Since I work at Walt Disney World Parks and Resorts, my options for the subject of this paper were very limited. Disney is extremely strict on what kind of information is released, so I couldn’t reorganize a stockroom – pictures backstage are off limits – I couldn’t produce a fashion show – I don’t work solely with apparel – and I couldn’t do anything that interfered with the visual merchandising department. With all that said, I decided to comparison shop Disney World and Universal Studios. I’ve been visiting Walt Disney World for years and years now, so when I decided to take a trip to Universal, it was a huge change for me. To me, Disney is this magical place where the outside world fades away once you enter; nothing really compares.…

Related Diversification Disney over the years has built itself into a related diversification company. This essentially means that they have been able to expand their business and product lines into activities and industries that were similar to what they were currently offering. Some examples of this process would be the introduction of Disney theme parks for families to attend as well as the addition of Disney Channel in 1983. These two different market segments are good examples of related diversification because they make Disney original business, the production of animated children movies, easier to deliver to their target market.…
