Riordan has established statements in regard to their mission, vision and values that aim at being an industry leader while being able to maintain profitability for sustainment and growth. Based on this internal philosophy, Riordan must establish a process to evaluate the risk/reward ratio that exists with any opportunities. The current environment of Riordan does address strategic planning however it does not address any risk management philosophy, policy, training or communication. The recommendation is for a comprehensive formal plan to address all of these components. In order to prevent and manage risk, this organization must have commitment from the top down that engages in these activities. Incorporating a multi-tiered risk program that involves all levels of an organization is one of the most important avenues to ensure sustainability.
Real and Intellectual Property The property assets of Riordan include both real and intellectual property that must be protected. Real property includes the land, buildings and machinery that Riordan owns in all of its locations and the intellectual property consists of trade secrets, patents, logo’s , copyrights and trademarks that Riordan may hold.
