It helps build a foundation in which in which the company, stakeholders, and workers can rely on. It’s the responsibility of a company to regulate ethics and to discipline unethical behavior that occurs within and outside of the workplace. If companies like Enron, would have engaged in these approaches every day, the stakeholder and workers would do the right thing, at least I would. “Ethics and integrity are at the core of sustainable long term success. Without them, no strategy can work and, as Enron has demonstrated, enterprises will fail” (Forbes, 2013).
A good corporate citizen is “a corporation that accepts the importance of being collectively responsible for its local community and environment as an integral part of their core business” (GABM, 2014). Nike works hard to maintain their ethical integrity making them a good corporate citizen. “Nike has a commitment to management practices that respect the rights of all employees, including the right to free association and collective bargaining, a commitment to minimizing their impact on the environment, providing a safe and healthy work place, and promoting the health and well-being of all employees.” This is Nike’s code of conduct; which is translated and posted in all major Nike workplaces across the world, which exemplifies the commitment to ethics and the Nike stakeholders ("Nike 's Labor Practices." , ICMR. 2002).
Nike is a compnay that is very dedicated to the community. They use sports as a way to empower those in the community to reach their full potential. Nike and their employees give back to the local communities by donating money to children and those in needs. Like other companies, Nike has had problems in the past with their use of sweatshops but the company took action and got the problem correctly.
