This may be what James Dobson craves for why he is such a prominent critic of permissive parenting. Children must be allowed to express themselves without fear of retribution, but too, must be reprimanded - and if necessary, spanked depending on the nature of the misbehavior. The Bible has served as a guide to parenting practices, and like all teachings and beliefs, points to moderation and balance.
