In 2015 our payroll expenses totaled $49,119, representing 56 percent of our expenses. Our occupancy expenses totaled $16,404, representing 19 percent of our expenditures. Our advertising expenses totaled $9,760, representing 11 percent of our expenses. The remaining 14 percent of our $87,563 expenses was for professional memberships, auditing, and supplies, all necessities of running a business. Cortland County provided Cortland County Historical Society with $22,500 which covered 26 percent of our 2015 expenses the other 74 percent was raised through fundraising efforts, grants, publications, and memberships in the society.

Cortland County Historical Society strives to reach a wide variety of people. Appealing most to those who have an interest in history, but we also strive to draw in others who may not have favored the subject in their youth. By hosting programs on local history topics we draw in an audience that ranges in age and interest. Our bus trips appeal to a large variety of people. Our presence at community events puts us in the eyes of many of the community. By continually finding new ways to engage our visitors and Cortland County at large we continue to be a recognizable name.
