Cornea laceration occurs when there’s a cut to the clear front window of the eye called the cornea. Cornea laceration usually caused by something sharp flying into the eye, as well as something striking the eye with a great amount of force. Cornea laceration is deep an can cut partially or fully through the cornea. When the cornea laceration is deep it is called a full thickness laceration, it will cut through the cornea and cause a ruptured globe, a ruptured globe is when there’s a tear in the outer part of the eyeball. Cornea laceration is a serious eye injury and immediate medical attention is needed to prevent severe vision loss.
