CORNCO AND THE CONTAMINATED CORN
What are the pertinent facts of the case?
• George Wilson the Operations Manager of CornCo plant and he is in charge of buying corn and producing chips marketed by CornCo in the United States and other areas.
• CornCo has a competitor a new company called Abco Snack Foods who has begun marketing chips in CornCo market area.
• Abco has already shown signs of eroding CornCo’s market share.
• This was alarming to Jake and he was concerned that George’s production cost would not be competitive with Abco’s . If this happens CornCo’s profit will decline.
• Because of this Jake has asked for George to find a way to cut cost and if he couldn’t they would have to start laying-off employees.

Underwood Personal Ethical Model
DOES IT VIOLATE ANY MORAL ABSOLUTES?
George would defiantly violate moral absolute in this case if he chooses to continue with production and ignore how he will be poisoning the health of others in his society. George is faced with a difficult decision to make and others around him even his boss do not want to be held accountable for what happens, but they all want to pressure him own doing what benefits them most, instead of taking the ethical route and doing what is right.
IS IT LEGAL?
George would be knowingly breaking the law and selling out his own moral ethics in order to please others. George does not really understand the consequences behind breaking the law. All he knows is what Jake told him is that the company would be fined. Not only is poisoning the consumers morally wrong, but anyone who knowingly agrees to be apart of continuing with the processing is will have to live with the guilt that they endangered millions of people all for their personal gain.

He can add another way out you had never even considered. A light of clarity comes and you are given breadcrumbs to guide you in the right direction. I believe that God is with George and that regardless of how hard this test seems. If he turns this over to God and asks him for guidance, I am sure he will show him the ethical way of working out this situation. Who knows maybe because George decides not to go along with this plan God will bring him another great opportunity. In which he works for an employer who cares about their consumers and products and won’t allow it’s employees to be put into these sorts of situations. Or perhaps George will start his own company and hire all of the employees who where fired from CornCo’. The decision for George to contaminate the chips is just a temporary fix to the companies’ issues. If the company is not built on putting God first and doing the right thing they will not succeed.
