Genetically mortified food is food that scientists have taken into a lab and finagled with the genes to either add or take out qualities they want. An example of a food currently released in the markets is corn. Corn has been modified to contain vitamins that we need, to have pesticides in the genetic information, the size of corn, and the shape of corn. The main argument against this is that it would cost us money and cause lawsuits against farmers and business. Prop 37, if passed, would have given people the right to know if their food had been genetically tampered with at some point in the process-so heating or breaking it apart, would be considered tampered with. The argument against that statement is that the genetically altered food is nutritionally the same as non-genetically altered food and just as safe and therefor would be misleading. Saying that it has been genetically altered because it has been heated up would be misleading
