Cormac's Case Study

Cormac is a high school graduated and a 24-year-old single man who lives with his family.
Appearance
• Un groomed hair- is evidenced by Cormac’s long greasy and matted blonde hair
• Unshaven- is evidenced by Cormac’s beard
• Emaciated- becoming thin due to disease or lack of nutrition (Myers &Mosby,2012) as it is shown in Cormac’s body weight
• dishevelled – is evidenced by Cormac wearing crushed, stained cloths and washcloth on his head
Behaviour
• cooperative
• agitated- is inability to sit on the same place for a period of time(Morrison,2014), as evident by the inability of Cormac to remain seated for long.
• inappropriate laughter- as evident by Cormac’s laughs for no apparent reason during the interview
• not maintaining eye contact

• Paranoid- unjustified doubt of others (Finney, Minagar, &Heilman,2016), as Cormac stated that his boss has been taping all his conversations with customers to catch him making mistakes.
Perception
• Auditory hallucinations- a disorder in the sense of perception related to hearing (Communications,2010), as Cormac admitted that he hears voices, and he said “strangers talking about me.”, “voices are real, they’re not in my mind.”
Sensorium- Intact- as Cormac’s memory for recent events seems intact.
Cognition- Intact- as Cormac oriented to time, place and person
In sight- Impaired – inability to understand or acknowledge a possible mental health problem and unable to adhere to treatment (“Clinical practice guidelines: Mental state examination,”n.d.), as evidenced by Cormac saying “there is nothing wrong with me.”
Judgement- lacking – this is due to the fact that Cormac couldn’t able to attend to his
