Coretta Scott King was more than just a black female civil rights activist. Coretta was a person that never gave up. Coretta was always right beside her husband Martin Luther King jr. She went from sitting in the evening mass to the mass movements in the Selma streets. Compared to the quiet and timid lives that African American women lived in the mid 1900’s, Coretta definitely made sure she stood out.
Coretta had a constant support group making sure she succeeded at everything she did. She had a caring mother, her name was Bernice McMurry. Coretta grew up and noticed that she'd been blind to what was happening around her. She heard about all the corruption in church since she was a young girl but since it didn't phase her, she didn't have a full understanding. She found Martin and they decided that they were going to work together and make a movement. It started off with the same changes. They came to the bus boycott rallies and peacefully protested against what they didn't believe was right. They were first just in the background and then they became the main supporters. After they proved their dedication and that they were there till the end, they became the leaders.
Coretta Scott King lived a long fulfilled life. Coretta got to see the change that everyone wanted to see over hundreds of years. She also had great supporters and went to the schools that she wanted to. Coretta spoke her mind and even though her opinion wasn’t the majority's opinion she wasn’t going to change it to please them. Coretta Scott King was a strong leader in the movement to equal rights and her legacy will hold it’s ground until everyone is treated
