My family roots are established in the southern part of West Virginia in a small town called Craigsville. In the south it is very common to help anyone, no matter if you know them or not. Everyone is very friendly and no matter where you are, someone will come up and say hello and ask how you are doing. These values have made me the person I am today in the aspect that I am very friendly and willing to talk to anyone. I believe this is one of my core values and I strive to be the best and nicest person I can be every day.

I was raised in a house where we had family dinner at the table every night, no matter what time it was and how many practices we had that night. I have a very close relationship with my parents that most kids my age do not get to experience. I believe I have this type of relationship because they did not have a close relationship with their parents when they were my age. My dad’s parents got a divorce when he was 18. When my grandpa was still living the relationships we had on that side of the family were very hard to establish because it seemed like we were always torn between the two. On my Mom’s side, she developed a closer relationship as she got older with her parents. It was easier to develop relationships because my grandparents on that side were still married, so we did not have to go to two different houses to visit. My parents have always had great communication with my brother and I since we were in middle school. They have always said that they would trust us till we did something that would cause them to lose trust. This is why in my relationships, personal and professional, I believe communication is the key to success. My parents have influenced me to always be honest and communicate. In my opinion, this is why I have such strong family values. I often consider my parents as my best friends, and they have helped me build stronger relationships in my life …show more content…
I now understand why I am the person I am today. I was taught to tell the truth and follow the rules. Many people make fun of me for following all the rules, but it does not bother me because I was raised to act this way. Being the devoted Christian I am today, is also influenced by my family. My mom would always take us to church every Sunday, and when we would go visit, we would go with my Mawmaw and Pawpaw. Finally, the values I have and the religion I believe in has allowed me to be the best person I can be every day. In conclusion, the values I have will help me in the nursing field when I graduate. Ethical values are different in every person, so I have the respect to not pass judgement on values that I do not believe

They taught me many valuable lessons from never feeling above others, never falling into temptation, but above all, honesty. When I saw my Hexaco score of 3.38 I thought I should have gotten a higher score, but I agreed with it for the most part. You see my, parents, especially my mom, immediately knew when I lie (I guess it is her instinct as a mother. I tried multiple times to lief to her, when I did things she would not agree with. I accredit me being honest because my parents always told me that people who are honest will achieve more things in life, and that if you lie, you will go to hell.…

Nursing philosophy is based not only on personal ideals and morals, but also professional training. It has been defined as the thoughts on what is believed to be true about the nursing profession and provides the principal and ethical values we hold to our beliefs in nursing. The ability to care for people, as well as nursing itself, is both an art and a science. Since starting my nursing career in nursing in 1994, I will always continue to provide competent, empathetic, and compassionate care to all my patients to the best of my ability. My personal nursing philosophy is one that is essential to me and revolves around the three concepts of compassion, professionalism, and accountability.…

The environment in which I was raised had a lot of impact on the person I have become today. With my dad being in the military, I had the opportunity to travel the world; living in a different country and being around different cultures influenced my personality and mentality positively. Aside from the cultural aspect of it, being away from most of my family influenced the person that I became for the reason that it made me extremely independent. I noticed all my parents sacrificed living far from our family, learning a new language, living and accommodating to new and different places from what they were used to, and even risking their life being in the military just so that my brother and I can have a better future. Consequently, all their…

A quote from the textbook this week I have selected is: Values are the deeply held convictions that influence your thinking when you are faced with choices. (Sukiennik 37)I choose this quote because, I believe that people deal with this on a daily bases. Like advertising, its set up by a corporation and their values to influence the person to buy their product. For example a beauty product can alter a person's opinion about themselves give the people a choice over a cheap imitation product or a product that will last but more expensive. But in reality it all depends on a person values on their decision on making that choice whether they want to buy an expensive product that may cost them 50 dollars or buy cheap imitation that will cost 10 dollars but, doesn't last that long.…

Being a nurse is a difficult job, but the rewards for this can been recognized by the fact that nursing has been ranked as the most trusted profession for over a decade according to gallup polls. I understand that I have an immense amount of responsibility within this field, and I actively choose to honor this by working hard, implementing basic principles of decency within my professional and personal life, and learning from those who have more insight in nursing than I currently do, so that one day I can impart my knowledge onto younger prospective nurses, as well. I consider this educational journey to be more significant than a career choice, but rather a calling to channel my intrinsic values of compassion, dependability, and servitude in a career that saves lives daily.…

Professional Moral Compass in Nursing Values play a significant role in shaping professional identity by influencing the actions and behaviors of practitioners in their day to day activities. Three fundamental personal values shape my understanding of nursing. To begin with, being a nurse requires a person to be very responsible. Being responsible means that nurses should not only be willing to do what is expected of them but also beyond these expectations as long as it will improve patient conditions. It is the level and sense of responsibility within each nurse that will determine the cases of negligence and poor patient care.…
