CORE 200 class has a focus on Christian Faith, I never imagined, I would get the opportunity to learn about Islam. I have been exposed, nor taken the liberty to explore Islam and see what Muslim’s believe. Going to the Masque was by far the thing; I was most excited for on the Detroit trip. The Islamic experience did not disappoint. In the short hour and a half our group spent in the Masque I was exposed to new experiences, and many eye opening moments. Detroit has a stereotype of having only African American residents, but much to my surprise there was a large population of Muslims. As someone who wants to eventually work in Detroit this was a huge aspect of the city that would be important for me to know when participating in ministry. While spending time listening to someone who is Islamic I was overwhelmed and confused by the similarities between Christianity and Islam. We were told they still believe in Adam, Moses, Abraham, and even Jesus Christ. They believe each of those important people in Christianity is a prophet God has sent down. They do not believe in the trinity or that Christ died for our sins, etc. Muslim’s do claim to …show more content…

I was praying that He would send his people to be imitators of him, to shine his light. I prayed that their hearts would be softened and be open-minded. As I was praying I could sense a strong presence of spiritual warfare. My heart felt so

I believe that this course can be best described by using the title of the assigned text. Untangling the Web is what I would say if I only had three words to describe the course, but three words wouldn’t nearly be enough to encompass the complexity and depth of the material. The course is more specifically focused on the Middle East. It is about how by analyzing historical events from as far back as 2000 BCE, we can denounce why the Middle East has been a mess. This course is about explaining the broad issues that have led to the mess that is the present day Middle East.…

Calvary Commission, the seminary that I stayed at, is located a few miles out of town on a land that seems to never end. I could walk miles and still find myself to be on Calvary Commission’s property. The first day I was there, my group and I went on a little hike up to the prayer chapel, which sat on the top of a hill, surrounded by trees, and a bonfire pit stood a few feet away. This was my group’s first real exposure to how great the people at Calvary Commission are.…
