Have you ever heard of the Coqui Frog? I believe they’re so fascinating! I have never learned about a frog more interesting than this. The Coqui is only able to live in Puerto Rico and Hawaii. The genus of the Coqui with over 700 species is one of the most species geneses of vertebrates! These frogs have quite a unique way of living. I can’t wait to teach you more!

Coqui Frogs originated in the lands of Puerto Rico. They can be very sensitive frogs when having to do with humidity and temperature. Puerto Rico has the right temperature and humidity for the frogs. Coqui Frogs have been transported to places such as St. Croix, St. Thomas, Florida, Louisiana, Panama, and Mexico. However, because of the changes of humidity and temperature, they never survived as long as they would in Puerto Rico. The only state they were successful living in is Hawaii. Today, these frogs inhabit Puerto Rico and Hawaii. Sadly though, people in Hawaii have been taking these creatures as a threat and now they are considered endangered. Puerto Ricans have been trying to stop the Hawaiians from bringing the frogs to extinction, and they are telling them to transport the frogs back to Puerto Rico.

The majority of these species were introduced by human activities. Irresponsible keepers, animal dealers, and the international trade has released large predators like African and Asian pythons, South American tegu lizards, and African monitor lizards into new ecosystems, which have the potential to create environmental havoc in ecosystems where no such predators exist. Varanus niloticus, the Nile monitor, is an African monitor lizard which was introduced into…

The description here is intentionally graphic. Garland’s language captures the horror and violence of death in battle with blunt realism. The lack of sentimentality is an important trait of realism. Garland takes pains to avoid romanticizing Billy Tripp’s death. The sound imagery is evocative, but the description focuses more on the ugliness of death than its emotional impact.…

INTRODUCTION Thermoregulation is a complicated process requiring the sensing of surroundings condition and processing of that information so that animals can regulate their core temperature based on the change in environmental temperature (Seebacher & Franklin, 2005) to carry out metabolism and allow the functions of biologically sensitive enzymes and cells. Thus, allowing animals to survive in different environments including some extreme ones i.e. desert. Ectotherms such as lizards which have resultant control over metabolic processes, can thermoregulate through heat exchange processes based on behavioural or physiological adaptions (Huey & Slatkin, 1976). Other fascinating characteristic of some lizards is colour changing which normally…
