Rodwell, Brunetto, Demir, Shacklock, & Farr-Wharton (2014) conducted a study looking at the link between nurses’ intentions to quit and abusive supervision. The purpose of their study includes investigating a wide range of abusive supervision, such as task attacks, personal attacks, or a combination, and how these forms of abusive supervision affect the health and work outcomes for nurses (Rodwell et al, 2014). Rodwell et al. (2014) do a great job of naturally creating a research framework that stems from this theory as well as creating logical deductions from the theory. An example of this is in hypothesis 3 where they state that “isolating behaviors will be linked directly and indirectly to the health and work outcomes of decreased job satisfaction, increased psychological strain, and increased intentions to quit” (Rodwell et al., 2014, p. 359).
