Coping Behavior Scenario Paper

Focus: Samantha and family will learn and practice coping skills to manage Samantha’s depressive moods. Ms. Smalls (MHP), Samantha and Ms. Smith (MHS) discussed Samantha displaying symptoms of depression.

Intervention: MHP, Samantha and MHS discuss Samantha’s displaying depressive symptoms. MHP request feedback from Samantha and MHS of ways Samantha is coping with the holidays away from biological family. MHP and Samantha practice expressing emotions and holiday triggers that lead to feeling sad. MHP encourage Samantha to use MHS and MHP as an outlet when needed. Response: MHS explain Samantha does get more verbally aggressive when peers talk about their biological families. Samantha explain she does not get depress nor emotions of sadness.
