As a small, scrawny, confused 8th grade boy, the transition from a coed middle school - Roger Ludlowe Middle School - to Fairfield Prep was an enormous step for me socially and academically. At that time in my life, I was unsure if Fairfield Prep was going to be a good fit for me: all I had ever heard about the school were glowing reports from my older sister's friends who attended. Fortunately, looking back at it, attending Fairfield Prep was one of the most impactful and beneficial decisions I have ever made for myself as it inspired me to be "open to growth". This institution has not only pushed me academically, but it allowed me to stretch my comfort-zone and become more comfortable with myself.…
Hicksville high is a small school where every student knows everything about the other. Among the thirty students in the senior class of 2016 Bill, Lenard and Tony were the weirdest and coolest characters that always tried a certain fad or thing first. They were the major subjects of gossip in Hicksville high and whatever little thing they did in the morning would become a huge behemoth by the time school finished for the day. Like every teenage trio BFFs, they had a nickname and were dubbed ‘The BLT’ by taking the initials of their first names and they were a BLT in their own sort of way.…
I moved from San Diego, California to Derby, Kansas in the summer of 2017. I joined Derby Middle School, I hadn’t been to a real middle school before, even though I was in seventh grade. I was in online schooling with K-12 at home. I was new to multiple classes and teachers, assignments on paper, and I was new to a lot of people around me. When I joined Derby Middle School, I thought of it like nothing, thinking that no effort would get me through the year, I thought that my grades didn’t matter as long as I get C or higher.…
Now that I am in Whiteoak High School my friend Blade has decided to come join me. For our last year of high school, we are also moving in together. That way we have practice for college, and years to come. The road is long but with my new friends I am going to make a new group. That will last for years to come to save others.…
When I walked into Havre Middle School, I really didn’t want to be here. I wasn’t expecting to have seven different classes. I liked only having one big class a day. This is why, I don’t like school anymore. I grew a lot in the last three years of middle school.…
It was another boring day at Carmel Middle School, Teachers teaching, students learning, messing around, talking, and basically any other thing that happens on a normal boring day of school was happening today. That is, until me, and a group of my friends discovered the dark secret behind Carmel Middle school. I’ll tell you that story, but first, let me introduce you to Carmel middle. The school sits directly in the middle of Carmel Indiana, a small suburb of Indianapolis, This is the kind place that was voted best place to live in Indiana, here, crime rates are small, but people's wallets are big, Carmel is the kind of place that you would never suspect what is truly going on, in a place like Carmel nobody would have ever thought this would…
The Power to Win must come from Within Before I entered the school I looked it up on a webpage Zillow.com. I know that my mom and my sister would use it a lot. Especially when they were looking into moving houses or buying a home. Tulip Grove Elementary school had a rating of 8 out of 10. For me that tells me that the school is considered as a school that is above average.…
It is a good break from learning and a great time to meet new people was the first time we have done Intercession but I am happy that we got to do it. Until it was time for volcanic eruptions I was so excited. Volcanic Eruptions was my favorite class. This class is where you get to make goo and to see how long it takes for mold to grow on wheat bread.…
I, KeeAndre’ Johnson am a 17 year old boy in Atlanta, Georgia, and I go to Wastlake high school. My life has been real hard, i've always struggled with being bullied. My dad passed away in the 1st grade I didn't think of it so much then, but as I grow up and mature I start to realize how much of a loss he was to me and my mom. We've struggled financially since my fathers passing, but my mom and I are staying strong through the hardest times.…
In August 2010, I stepped onto United States territory for the first time. My older brother, my mom, and I arrived at the bus station. It was crowded and people were desperately trying to get their luggage. My body felt the heat as soon as we got off the bus. The clouds were removed from the sky and the shiny sun was all by itself.…
I was afraid to sharpen a pencil in second grade. My most vivid elementary school memories spring from instances when I was being reprimanded by an adult for doing something wrong. I did everything in my power to avoid those dreadful moments, but they still presented themselves on occasion. Even now I feel a pit in my stomach when I recall the way I felt during those times, regardless of the fact that almost all of them would easily roll off my back if they occurred today.…
Do you remember when we had “recess” or maybe when the teachers came into our classrooms and told us we needed to go to heritage hall before lunch? Many of the students just wanted to eat lunch but we went because we had no choice. Everyone ran down the stairs, like they regularly do. Once we got there heritage hall was very cramped for all of our sixth grade students. After everyone got in most of the students ran all over the place, and at one point someone turned off the lights and everyone started screaming.…
My class walks over to our bus and we pile on one at a time and sit 2 people to each row. I sit down next to my friend Reagan and we talk the whole way there about how nervous we are. She is running in the 400 meter dash. As we pull up into the parking lot of Bogle Jr. High, everyone starts to talk louder and louder until the teachers tell us to quiet down. We meet the rest of our class under a tent that was set up by the volunteers.…
The world doesn’t run on your time, sadly I learned sooner than I thought. It’s nothing like being in the fifth grade ready to move on to middle school, new friends, new responsibilities, sadly new teachers, and let’s not forget better school lunch. Seven thirty and we’re all waiting on our math teacher. Butterflies in my tummy and the excitement of a new school year made me more nervous than a criminal being question by the cops.…
It was the first day of seventh grade. I was young for my class, a seven-year home school veteran, and going into a small, private school where I would be in a class of only seven people who had already known each other for years. This was a recipe for disaster and I could feel the terror and nervousness taking over me as I walked into the classroom, five minutes late. Five minutes may not seem like much, but in five minutes I could have found a better desk to sit at or at least have had time to introduce myself to a few of my new classmates. Instead, I walked in -not even aware that I was late- to awkwardly stand there, in front of everyone, until the teacher helped me find a desk to sit at.…
