For example, there are several scenes in the movie where two of team members are pitted against each other. This causes strife between the entire team. The movie also demonstrates the importance of individuality and uniqueness within a specific organization that is explored in the human resource theory. For example, towards the end of the film there are two important scenes that demonstrate the exceptionality of different organizations and teams. The first example occurs when Irv explaining why he was disqualified from the Olympics for cheating. He explains that when he cheated he had become obsessed with the idea of winning. Some human resource theorist would argue that this was an attempt to exploit the organization because of his own personal goals and needs. Second, when the team has their initial race, Derice tries to mimic the Swiss team which results in the team placing last. The team then acknowledges that they have their own style, ideas, culture, values, energy, and talent that sets them apart from the Swiss team. During the second race, they end up in eighth place during the second race.
