Despite a worldwide manhunt, the Cook County DA was never able to bring Jack Purdy to justice. Maggie Bottomly was eventually reelected and served another four years as Cook County Sheriff. Three years later, he came under federal indictment when the FBI discovered he was using his private email server to conduct classified government business.
