In the short story "Conversations of Young Women", Shirley Lim speaks for the women who has no voice of their own. The characters in Lim's story struggles with confusion and uncertainty as to whether "women are always the first to turn against ourselves" when it comes to dealing with rape. The feminist theory focuses largely on analyzing gender inequality (Earl Smith, 2010). Feminism is a theory defined as men and women should be equal politically, economically and socially (Lalneihzovi, 2007).
