Convergence Culture
Convergence culture is the term coined by Henry Jenkins meaning the colliding of old and new media (Jenkins 425). It is also a world where consumer participation can simultaneously create productive global conversation, as well as devolve our understanding of the human condition and art. Convergence has been created to better our lives and make things simpler. In todays society convergence plays a huge roll in our everyday lives. It is incorporated in our lives even when not noticed like when watching a news clip on the Internet or when sending out a tweet about your favorite baseball player; we are always using media. Convergence has made life more current and is making our lives better day by day. I believe that convergence is good for society.

Many believe that there are many disadvantages to technological improvements, for example decreasing face-to-face interactions and displacing old media like newspapers and books with Kindle e-books and mobile apps. This is a controversy for scholars of technology and media who see this as an attack on intellectual property, originality, and the need for productive discourse and centralized media. While others have valid arguments, I believe that the advantages of convergence far out weight the disadvantages. Some may argue that as technological media convergence advances it has affected the people because not only are the things around them changing and becoming more progressive, but they also have to adapt to the transformation and learn how to use them wisely. If others used technology and media usefully they will slowly start to realize that technology is not here to hurt us, but it is here to help us succeed and improve our day-to-day
