Capital punishment in some circumstances can be beneficial. Most cases where the death penalty was sentenced was on rape, torture, and mass murder of innocent human beings. For instance, if you knew that your punishment for killing someone would be death, would you reconsider that act? Fear alone of dying is scary enough, knowing that you will die for killing someone, should definitely decrease and prevent most murders from actually happening. There has always been people testing the limits of the law in our country and around the world. People thinking, they can get away with mass murder just because of who they are and represent is ridiculous. For example, Osama Bin Laden, he was once on the FBI’s most wanted list for over a decade before his death on May 1st, 2011 by American soldiers (history.com). He was the leader in many deadly acts of terrorism on U.S embassies (history.com). September 11th, 2001 was Osama’s most devastating blow to the United States. Osama’s Al Queda jihadists hijacked four commercial aircraft two of which hit the World Trade Center, one hit the Pentagon, and another went down in a field in Pennsylvania due to some heroic acts by passengers on the fourth aircraft, they prevented what we thought to be the fourth intended target being the Capital getting hit (biography.com). Human error has always been a part of human nature. Everyone has made at least one mistake in their lifetime, whether it be missing an appointment or finding a person guilty of something he/she didn’t do and sentenced to death. There have been many ways of execution since the beginning of time, none of which are humane or the best choice of punishment upon a guilty party. Although, there can be instances where the death penalty would be a considerable punishment. The fear of death alone would be frightening enough not to kill another human being. No one should have the right to play God, deciding the fate of another human being should be up to a higher power, not a mere mortal’s opinion of right or wrong. This basically gives someone the ultimate power to choose life or death of another person. Controversy has, and will always surround the ideas of the death penalty, which is humanly impossible to grasp the responsibility that comes along with this act.
