How Is Climate Change A Social Issue

Climate change and global warming have been a hot topic for some time now. They have taken their place as one of the major political issues. There are so many opinions and articles out there that it can easily become confusing to the casual observer. However, one can understand the concern. If indeed human’s emissions are causing the earth’s ecology to be thrown off balance, something should be done about it. It is easy to just put it off as another generation’s problem but that shouldn’t be the case. Humans can be directly linked to the drastic increase because of the carbon footprint that we have. The controversy about whether humans are the main reason behind the increase in climate change is clearly evident, through extensive research and testing scientists have proven over and over again that at the rate humans are outputting carbon dioxide there is no way that natural causes could be the reason for the increase. However, people may argue that overtime increases in temperatures occur and there is proof in years past. Climate change is now more than ever a topic that people debate over since it has become more prevalent in our society through social media. With the use of social media, the individuals that argue that humans are the main cause of climate change, can show compelling examples through videos or emotional articles to spark the interest of everyone. There are multiple solutions we can take in order to help combat these climate changes. First, there must be an international political solution such as an application of a carbon tax or levy on the greenhouse gas emissions for all countries involved. Second, funding for developing cheap, clean and economical energy production must be increased, as all economic development is based on increasing energy usage. However, we must not pin all of our hopes on global politics and clean energy technology, so we must prepare for the worst and adapt.
