Controversial Social Media

Decent Essays
Social media, easily on the top ten list for most controversial topic. Though most of us use it daily without a second thought, I believe there is a large underlying issue within it. This stems from how it is used and how much it is used, both of which in my opinion has negative outcomes. Social media eliminates privacy, individuality, and causes people to share opinions that they otherwise would never share in person.

There is a racist remark as well, that blacks killed by police officers are more than likely white police officers. This is a false accusation as black and hispanic ethnic groups are more likely to shoot blacks than whites, this is according to the Justice department about the Philadelphia police department. This study was further conducted by the University of Pennsylvania Greg Ridgeway who majors in criminology and the final conclusion to the stats were that a black police officer were 3.3 times more likely to discharge a weapon at a crime scene. After 2015 statistics I can not argue against the point that I think that this is not a controversial topic but a stupid one which has progressively become worse due to social media and media itself.…
