Wade, the Pro-Life movement has also had a large impact on societal views of abortion. The National Abortion Rights Action League and the National Right to Life Committee are just a few of the hundreds of organizations fighting against abortion in the United States. Before the legalization of abortion in 1973, these groups defined themselves as “anti-abortion,” but after their major loss due to the decision, they began to use terminology such as “pro-life.” They started to use this new phrase to gain a moral leverage point, claiming they are saving the lives of the potential children. However, the term “pro-life” is deemed by many to be wildly inaccurate due to their blatant disregard for the life of the pregnant women, only caring about the fetus. “Abortion providers have been the targets of more than 300 acts of extreme violence, including arson, bombings, murders and butyric acid attacks from Pro-Life extremist groups” (Supreme Court Finds Right To Choose Abortion). However, less violent acts have also been done by Pro-Life groups. Operation Rescue uses tactics such sit-ins at abortion clinics to prevent any patients from receiving treatment.
