The main characters Squealer and Napoleon use different propaganda devices in order to gain power. Squealer does this by using the propaganda device of scare tactics in order to receive all of the milk and apples, “You do not imagine, I hope that we pigs are doing this in a spirit of selfishness and privilege? Many of us actually dislike milk and apples...We pigs are brainworkers. The whole management and organisation of this farm depend on us….Jones would come back” (Orwell 35-36). He talks about how the two main characters in the book use a variety of propaganda devices in order to make themselves seem superior and to also receive power. This is important because the device in the book propaganda that could be used for a negative purpose instead of a positive one, which was shown in the book. The fact that the author acknowledges these types of issue is really important because of the fact that power and status is being used today in order to gain and to also abuse power. By understanding how this is happening then maybe in the future, status will be gone and power could be evenly distributed, and everyone could be treated
