Opposing this Gun control supporters,(people who favor additional legal restrictions on availability of guns or people who want to ban certain types of guns, argue that the more guns there are, that more crime will happen. There is no simple statistical relationship between homicide and gun ownership or other violent crimes. During the first thirty years of this century, U.S. handgun ownership per capita remained steady, but homicide rates rose greatly by 100%. Coincidentally, between the years of 1937 and 1963, handgun ownership rose dramtically by 250 percent, and as a result the homicide rates fell by 35 percent (Lic Phil). Switzerland, through its military system, issues out both fully automatic assault rifles and handguns to all capable adult males and makes it mandatory for them to store their weapons at home. Further more, civilian rifle purchases are basically unregulated, and handguns are available to any adult without a mental defect or criminal record. Nevertheless, Switzerland experiences much less crime per capita than america, and almost none armed crimes (Mcclurg ). We should most definitely look beyond guns as the reason for violence. He won’t disregard new laws but also he won’t be “ordering gun magazine round ups”(Fox News). On another standpoint Nationwide people are being affected by gun violence. Something has to be done, for as the dangerous places are getting worse and safe places are becoming unsafe.
