The University of Oklahoma is a very diverse community. For their second year, consecutively, they have won the Insight into Diversity award. This makes me work harder each and everyday to better my community and soon help many other communities as well. As of now I help my community by participating in numerous volunteer roles such as Clothe a Child, Camp Inventions and PALS.
I love helping, not only my community, but other communities, the best way I can. When I saw Kohl's clothing store’s volunteer support list, I signed up to the foundation of Clothe a Child right away. I wake up for school around 5 a.m., so I knew this would not become a trouble task. Constantly putting myself first, I thought about all the families that need help. Clothe

At school I am a part of a program called PALS. PALS is a class where an individual volunteer at different schools with children and assist at Special Olympics. In PALS, you must have good patients, leadership skills and commitment. When I went to McClure Elementary School, I was given a child in which I helped them throughout the year and taught them how to be a leader in their own way. Taught them what a leader is and supposed to be, however, I allowed them to express the commendable leader they wanted to be. I taught them skills and they taught me certain skills too.
When I was in sixth grade, I too had a leader from PALS. My leader taught me how to become a successful leader and I wanted to share my experience with others. In the Special Olympics, the kids need aid because they cannot perform certain task as others. My patience was performed numerous times during these events because I had to be supportive of their needs. A child needed help putting on their glove and shoes after becoming upset that they cannot do it. I stepped in and helped them put on these items. I was thanked by the Special Olympics mentors on how patient I was to the kids.
I have done many things in my community and I will not stop because of the joy I bring upon

I want to be a Link Crew Leader because I would love to be able to mentor freshman as my previous Link Crew Leaders did to me. I also feel that becoming a Link Crew Leader would not only allow me to help shape freshman to become better people but to help me become a better person myself. I have been both a volunteer at a summer program for first and second graders and an assistant coach for the special needs program at Alta Loma Little League. At the summer program I was tasked with teaching 3 classes of first graders to type and code. This leadership position not only taught me how to actively communicate with people who learn in different ways, but also taught me to become a stronger leader.…

For my sixty hours of volunteer work I decided to volunteer at a Child Life Center which was in a poverty stricken area in Norfolk, Va. At the child life center my job as a volunteer was to assist the children with their homework, help the staff monitor the children on local field trips, as well as serve as a positive role model for the children. The experience I had at Park Place Child Life Center was one I will honestly never forget. Although I didn’t get any actual counseling experience, I was able to learn the ways that the non-profit organization received their funding, I was able to gain experience in working with the youth, and I was also able to make a positive impact on the lives of children who were considered “at-risk youth”. To go there every day and be able to see the change the children had in their behaviors and how much just some attention and affection from adults impacted their behaviors was honestly amazing.…

I earned my first leadership role at the age of two. At that age, I became my sister’s role model. It was up to me to teach her the tricks of the trade for everything-- from tying her shoes to studying for her first math test. Although I didn’t have any designated leadership positions during my early years of high school, it was the similarly intimate, accidental moments of leadership that colored my participation in my extracurriculars.…
