Contradiction Of Religion

The subject of religion has always been a subject of contradiction against people because of the diverse religion that exists in the world. Everyone will then have an agreement on the fact that religion is having faith and believing on what is above a human being. “Salvation”, “The Veil”, and “What God Got to Do with It” respectively written by Langston Hughes, Marjane Satrapi and Karen Armstrong, revealed an interesting experience during a time of their life on religion. Those authors by their writings expressed how somebody should lead his road through God beside the handiness of judgment that people and society have about it. Truthfully, political figures are seen as people who would use any of their manipulation to convince how right they are by doing the wrong thing. They have no limits to go as far as they can to destroy or construct the world only the way they visualize it to be. They have a tendency to proceed through religion these days as a justification to implant wars. They know that religion is a worldwide concern and they know how the diversity of religions can imply misunderstandings between people. Marjane Satrapi shows in “The Veil” how the Islamic revolution had an impact in her life and with the people around her during her school year. She used to be in a bilingual school where boys and girls could go to the same school and girls would not have to wear the veil. Schools were grouping different religion members such as Catholics, Muslims and Atheists. But after the revolution, everyone was imposed to follow the rules and the laws of Islam mostly seen with the veil and the schools separated for boys and girls; “we found ourselves veiled and separated from our …show more content…
The veil being imposed by indicating that it spheres their values can be understandable when it is not an obligation for those who are not concerned by Islam as a religion. This revolution presents just how people with power think they can rule the world with their beliefs without understanding and accepting others beliefs; going against the respect of somebody rights. Going on the same view as seen in “Salvation”, “The Veil” shows a person self-interest, the egoism which lives in them and led them to achieve their own aspiration. This is where the respect of one’s will about considering his beliefs and accepting them without forcing that one by the indulgence of a different belief should be the simplest thing to agree with regarding religion. Satrapi convey her confusion when she said: “We didn’t really like to wear the veil especially since we didn’t understand why we had to”.(Satrapi552).
